Although school bullying has received a lot of attention in recent years, it is not a new problem. As a matter of fact, bullies at school have been terrorizing other children for decades now – possibly even since school itself began. If you look further back in history, school bullies were arguably even worse than they are today. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that school bullying isn't a terrible phenomenon even now. Kids who are terrorized by bullies are at greater risk of depression, violence, and lifelong emotional problems.
Tragically, the thing that has drawn the most attention to school bullying lately is the phenomena of school shooting. Up until recently, teachers would often ignore school bullies because their victims would rarely retaliate. It was just something that people assumed would go on and that you couldn't do anything about. The schools took a sort of boys will be boys or girls will be girls kind of mentality. Nowadays, however, things have gotten so grave that people can't afford to ignore the problems anymore. Kids who are bullied in school are now taking guns and shooting their classmates! Finally, the problem has gone too far and people can't ignore it anymore.

The belief that all genuine education comes about through experience does not mean that all experiences are genuinely or equally educative.

There are many things that you can do to help stop school bullying, but they all start with communicating with your children. Keeping track of your children, what they're up to, and how they feel, is the key to every practice of good parenting. After all, you can not really stop your kids from being bullied if you do not know that they are! Once you recognize a pattern of bullying going on, There are several steps you can take. You can talk to the teachers and the principal about it, talk to the bully's parents, or even take legal action.
Recently, school bullying has become something that is being dealt with by the community as a whole. Recent phenomena like cyber bullying have exacerbated the issue, and now parents are striking back against school bullies. Through getting together with community organizations, you can help stop this type of behavior before it starts. After all, when the community as a whole stands up and says it is not acceptable, the bullies have to listen. Not only will we help to keep our kids safe by working together, but we can also do our part to teach them values of tolerance and compassion.
